Seamless steel pipes are used in fuel and energy plants, shipbuilding, aircraft engineering and mechanical engineering industries as well as construction of water, gas and oil pipelines.
Hot-deformed seamless conventional pipes manufactured from carbon and alloy steel with outer diameter varying from 168 mm to 426 mm, wall thickness and length in accordance with GOST 8731-78 are classified under this type of metal rolled products.
According to the length, seamless pipes as per GOST 8732 are manufactured as follows:
Deviations in length of seamless hot-deformed pipes of specific cut and multiple lengths shall not exceed +10 mm - for the length up to 6 m; +15 mm - for the length exceeding 6 m or outer diameter exceeding 152 mm.
According to quality standards, seamless hot-deformed pipes as per GOST 8732 are divided into the following groups:
Seamless hot-deformed pipes are often supplied with structural steels: 20, 15, 10 are the steel grades which are characterized by low hardness and high viscosity. Seamless steel pipes supplied with these steel grades are usually used at non-critical facilities.
These pipes are manufactured from ingots, rough forges, stripped, predrilled billets, EShL and VDP ingots in accordance with the requirements of the standard, or the customer, with 100% non-destructive testing, heat treatment, hydrotests, and a hydrotesting guarantee.
